Product Description :	Schlenkerla is slang for gammy leg. The original owner had a twisted walk. He’s on the label ! Rauch means smoke. The Original Schlenkerla Smokebeer's smokey palate and aroma is achieved by kilning the barley malt over burning beechwood logs. This is a tradition carried on only in the Bamberg area in Franconia and is similar to an Islay whisky in palate. Rauchbier, the region of Franconia, and more especially the area around Bamberg has traditionally persisted in malting barley over fire, usually made with fuel from the local beech woods. An eccentric style has developed but is a lager style beer from one of the oldest brewing towns.
